Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its star-studded reality series, New world, with EXO’s Kai
Also starring SUPER JUNIOR’s Heechul, Lee Seung-gi, Park Na-rae, Eun Ji-won and Jo Bo-ah, New world is a future reality bull that follows celebrities as they find ways to earn virtual currency before their time on a utopian island is over.
In the clip, each player is told that the island is a “utopia for the elect,” with Kai wondering if he’s in Heaven and Heechul pointing out that the island is meant as a video game. They are then informed that in-game currency can be earned by playing various games or collecting valuable items from different sections of the island.
More enterprising players, however, may also seek out opportunities to sabotage other players on the pitch and drain them of their existing in-game currency – Seung Gi hinting at the bankruptcy of a set of players in the game.
On their last day on the island, the person with the most in-game currency will return home with their virtual winnings cashed in for real money.
New world is set to premiere on November 20, with two new episodes released each week, exclusively through Netflix every Sunday. The series is directed by production director Cho Hyo-jin, best known for his work on Running Man, and produced by Company SangSang, the company behind beloved series like Broken! and Deuxgether.
In related news, EXO’s Kai is expected to release some new solo music this month. His agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed the news to South Korean media last month, but no definitive release date and more details on his new music have yet been released.
