Ghostbusting is coming to augmented reality. Imprezario Entertainment has moved the battle against the looming apocalypse to augmented reality (AR). Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe is now in augmented reality and brings male marshmallows as well as ghostly creatures to the real world.
In Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe, you will work alongside the Ghostbusters to redeem the planet from a ghostly apocalypse. The title uses augmented reality to immerse players deep in the new movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife where you will play as one of the legendary Ghostbusters. You will defend and save the real environment from the coming ghostly apocalypse. You will achieve this by attaching a proton pack, then taking on the supernatural entities.
The first two episodes of Ghostbusters: Scare from the afterlife started on November 19e and were free. Additional episodes are premium and are planned for months afterwards.
Besides the camera and touchscreen, the game also uses the smartphone’s LED light. It is recommended to use headphones because apart from the vibrations, there is also a spatial binaural mix for better immersion.
The story of Phoebe’s cast is at the heart of director and co-writer Jason Reitman’s AR performance, incidentally the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the film’s popular first two parts in the years. 1980.
Crouch, Dodge and Catch Ghosts
Players in Ghostbusters: Scare from the afterlife discover the city’s evil past and overcome it through various mechanisms. To do this, they must escape paranormal attacks by moving their smartphones or they will have to wipe the virtual mud from the screen in case of a misstep.
The approach of the ghosts with the blinking blaster also plays a big part in the trailer. Character interactions and solved ESP puzzles provide the virtual ghost hunter with nuclear cells for his gear.
In the event of a misstep, you can suddenly find yourself electrified. After all, as Reitman explains, Ghostbusters: Afterlife has always awakened the inner ghost hunter in us and grabbed a bundle of protons.
The tense adventure of ghostbusting is softened by the video calls of some movie actors. The list of guest appearances includes Celeste O’Connor, Dan Aykroyd, Logan Kim and Finn Wolfhard. Just like in Pokémon Go, collecting new creatures like the new “Muncher” seems to play a big role in the game.
It’s unclear if or to what extent ghost hunting will be tied to a real map as well. It’s not clear if the ghost hunt in this AR rendition can ever reach the popularity of Nintendo’s pocket monsters. It’s important to remember that even the Harry Potter AR game was a failure, although the developer of Pokémon Go has since reactivated the game.
David Kwong is responsible for Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe mechanical. So far, he’s mostly appeared as a wizard, author, and puzzle game tinkerer like in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol or Now You See Me.
