Controversial comedian Munawar Faruqui was announced as a contestant for ALTBalaji and MX Player’s upcoming reality show on Tuesday Lock Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood star also known for his many controversies, will host the show.
The “captive” reality show will air live 24/7 and will feature 16 “controversial” celebrities, who will be locked up for months without amenities.
Faruqui, who is also a rapper, said he was aware his journey on the show would be “difficult” but he was prepared for it. “Lock is going to be a one-of-a-kind show as I believe it has the potential to change the dynamics of the content viewing experience in the Indian OTT industry,” he said.
“While it’s been a challenging and challenging journey for me, I’m glad this show also gives me the opportunity to be myself in a real setup. I’m happy to be partnered with ALTBalaji, MX Player for m ‘to have delivered such a unique reality show,” the 30-year-old comedian said in a statement.

Later in November, the comic came under fire after Bangalore police denied permission for its comedy show in the city amid protests from Hindu right-wing groups.
Faruqui joins actor Nisha Rawal, known for soap operas like Hand Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki and Shaadi Mubarakas a competitor on Lock. ALTBalaji and MX Player will broadcast this show live 24/7 on their respective platforms and have audiences interact directly with contestants, reads a note from the creators.
