A new comparison video has been released comparing Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 Experience visuals to Matrix movies and real-world locations.
Last week, Lana Wachowski, Director of Epic Games and Matrix, launched the Matrix Awakens experience for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, showing off next-level photorealism. The Unreal Engine 5 showcase opens with several scenes from the original Matrix movie. These scenes, however, have been recreated entirely in photorealistic detail in Epic Games’ new version of Unreal Engine. It truly is a stunning showcase, and the YouTube channel “ElAnalistaDeBits” has taken the effort to compare the Matrix Awakens PS5 / XSX experience to the movies and reality Matrix. Granted, this comparison really shows how great next-gen Unreal Engine 5 really is and what developers might be able to achieve in the years to come.
Check out the comparison below and see for yourself:
The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 experience is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. The app can be downloaded through the official PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store.
This boundary-pushing tech demo is an original concept set in the world of Warner Bros. The Matrix. Written and directed in theaters by Lana Wachowski, it features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity and – in a reality-twist twist – also playing themselves.
The project brought together many of the team members who worked on The Matrix trilogy, including James McTeigue, Kym Barrett, John Gaeta, Kim Libreri, Jerome Platteaux, George Borshukov and Michael F Gay, working with teams from Epic Games and partners. , such as SideFX, Evil Eye Pictures, The Coalition, WetaFX (formerly Weta Digital) and many more.
Wachowski, Libreri and Gaeta have been friends since the days of the trilogy. “When I told them I was doing another Matrix movie, they suggested I come and play in the Epic sandbox,” Wachowski explains. “And Holy Sh * t, what a sandbox it is!”
“I imagine the first company to build a true Matrix – a fully immersive and persistent world – will be a games company and Epic is certainly leading the way. It is astounding to see how far games have come in twenty years.
“Keanu, Carrie and I had a blast making this demo. The Epic Sandbox is pretty special because they love to experiment and dream big. Whatever the future of cinematic storytelling, Epic will play a big part in its evolution. “
