
Courtesy FanTracksGoo Goo Dolls announced details of It’s Christmas everywhere, an “augmented reality musical film” inspired by their holiday album of the same name.
The film, created with the live streaming platform FanTracks, debuts worldwide at 7 p.m. ET on December 12, although FanTracks subscribers can get a preview from the day before.
In the film, Goo Goo Dolls travels through the past, present and future in search of the lost “Christmas Spirit”. During their travels, which take them through the streets of the city, subways, taxis, a smuggling bar from the 1940s and the decor of The Ed Sullivan Show, the band will perform songs from their holiday album and classic holiday standards. The message: Even though we are all separated by our current situation, we are all united by the true meaning of Christmas.
The group is also offering two signed guitars for auction as part of a fundraiser for Music Gives to St. Jude Kids – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
It was all shot in October. In a press release, singr John Rzeznik said, âIt was such an amazing experience playing songs from our new album live for the first time. We can’t wait for everyone to see and hear these Christmas tunes in this unique way, and we hope they bring this special holiday season to life. Happy holidays from all of us to all of you !! “
While the movie is free to watch, fans can purchase private VIP video dating and a Q&A with the group.
By the way, there was an “Ultimate Goo Goo Dolls Christmas VIP Package” that cost $ 1,500, but it’s sold out. In addition to a private 10-minute meeting, he included all the exclusive merch the band created to promote the holiday album, from a Christmas sweater and scarf to a limited edition recording diaper and a “leg lamp,” just like that of A Christmas story.
