
CityLights, a virtual reality leader specializing in delivering immersive cinematic storytelling to a wider audience, today announced that Academy Award-nominated actor, Bryan Cranstonsigned to express his future project, Discover Yosemite.
Cranston, who is best known for his Golden Globe and Emmy winning performance as Walter White in breaking Badwill express the viewer’s immersive cinematic journey through one of the first national parks in United States.
“I’ve always felt a strong sense of adventure,” Cranston said. “From a young age, I wanted to explore and experience everything this world had to offer. I’ve traveled to a lot of amazing places. But when I first saw Yosemite…I was blown away. I was amazed by its natural beauty and felt that everyone in the world should experience it.This experience is the next best thing…it majestically captures Yosemite from discovery to sustaining its natural wonder. I am thrilled to be part of bringing this unique experience to the masses.
Discover Yosemite ushers in a new multi-sensory cinematic experience, communicating the ancient art of storytelling through a deeper and more powerful medium, intimately connecting viewers to this awe-inspiring place. The project details the rich history of the park, taking viewers to its indigenous heritage through the groundbreaking work of John Muir and Ansel Adams with natural beauty that continues to inspire thousands of visitors each year. The experience uses state-of-the-art photogrammetry that was taken using advanced rock climbing and hiking techniques, as drones are not permitted in the national park systems. Written by Gabriel Gavigandirected by Joel Newton with VR development led by Louis Silversteinthis experience takes on significant cinematic challenges, creating a fully immersive snapshot of this vast and majestic place.
Discover Yosemite is produced by Garland Hunt Jr., Joel Newton and Greg Downalongside the executive producers David Ganeck, Bart Gaviganand Jeffrey Travis. The experience will air later this summer at the Positron VR Theater at Yosemite Cinema located in Oakhurst, California. Guests will be able to experience the project via Positron’s state-of-the-art Voyager virtual reality chairs, precision-engineered to move on behalf of the viewer.
